WIA - The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club is affiliated with the Wireless Institute of Australia. The WIA provides Club insurance coverage and is the amateur's representative body to the licensing authority - Australian Communications and Media Authority. Members are encouraged to consider membership of the WIA. More information is available from the WIA.

Coffee Mornings - An informal social coffee morning is held every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 21 Neale Street, Bendigo at 10am. Visitors welcome.

Club Licence - An extract from an ACMA Information Paper states:

"For convenience, a club station is issued an amateur Advanced licence that allows flexibility of operation for the station. However, the club station operates at the level of the qualified amateur operating the station. If the operator is qualified at a level less than an Advanced amateur, the club station is to be operated at the appropriate level. For example, if a person is a Standard amateur, the club station is to be operated as a Standard amateur station. Special conditions are attached to licences which authorise the operation of a club station in the amateur bands."

Of course, the official Club callsign must be used and, if the staion is operated at other than the registered address, the portable description must also be used.

Amateur Radio - Amateur Radio is Licensed Radiocommunication Experimentation. There are 3 levels of licensing: Foundation (Entry Level), Standard and Advanced. The licensing authority is Australian Communications and Media Authority. Administration of the assessment process is provided by the Wireless Institute of Australia on behalf of the Australian Communications and Media Authority through affiliated amateur radio clubs and their Assessors and Learning Facilitators.

The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club provides training and Licence Assessment courses for all 3 levels of licensing. If you wish to find out more about entering the fascinating world of amateur radio and gaining the required licence, contact Suitable arrangements can then be made.

The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club began as the Midland Zone of the Wireless Institute of Australia, Victorian Division and serves the Bendigo/Castlemaine area of Central Victoria.
