New Foundation Licences - All four students who attended the Foundation Weekend held by the Midland Club in Bendigo on June 26th and 27th qualified and are now operating with their new licences.

Australian Licensed Amateurs - As of April, 2010, the Wireless Institute of Australia reports the following statistics:
Total of 15,670 amateur licences made up of 11,120 Advanced, 2,042 Standard and 2,054 Foundation. There are also 454 repeater and beacon licences.
WIA Centenary - The Midland Amateur Radio Club will be using the special commemorative callsign VK100WIA on June 7th, 8th and 9th between 1300Hrs - 2200Hrs (1pm to 10pm local time) on all HF bands using SSB and CW.

Foundation Licence - Amateur Radio is a disciplined hobby for which individuals must be licensed. The licensing authority is Australian Communications and Media Authority. Administration of the assessment process is provided by the Wireless Institute of Australia through affiliated amateur radio clubs and their Assessors and Learning Facilitators.
The Midland Amateur Radio Club provides training and Licence Assessment courses. The next step is to email or post the document for further processing and you will be on your way.
The Midland Amateur Radio Club began as the Midland Zone of the Wireless Institute of Australia, Victorian Division and serves the Bendigo/Castlemaine area of Central Victoria. An active club that promotes the hobby of amateur radio locally and provides training and assistance for anyone interested in qualifying as a radio amateur.
Membership:
Membership is open to all radio amateurs, short wave listeners and those with an interest in radio, communications, electronics and related matters. Full Membership is $20.00/year, Associate Membership is $12.00/year. A $2.00 surcharge non-WIA members (insurance coverage) and also for MARCSPACE (newsletter) postage, if required, applies. Subsequent and co-residing family members are half membership rate. A once-off setup/joining fee of $5.00 applies to all new members.

M.A.R.C activities:

Meetings:
M.A.R.C meets the third Friday of the month at the 1st Bendigo Scout Hall, Vine Street, Bendigo at 7:30pm. Both members and visitors are welcome.
